General Information: On July 18, 2013, the City of Detroit, Michigan (the "City") filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 9 of the United States Bankruptcy Code (the "Bankruptcy Code"). The bankruptcy case was assigned Case No. 13-53846 and is pending before the Honorable Steven W. Rhodes in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of Michigan.
Pursuant to the Bankruptcy Code (specifically including, but not limited to, 11 U.S.C. §§ 362 and 922(a)), a debtor is afforded certain protection against its creditors.
