Pursuant to the Plan of Reorganization confirmed by the Court, Real Estate Partners, Inc. has entered into a Liquidating Trust as of March 9, 2011.
The Joint Equity Committee of Investors hereby provide notice that on December 22, 2010, the Bankruptcy Court approved the Committee’s Disclosure Statement relating to the Committee’s Chapter 11 Plan.
As described in the document posted here, Buchalter Nemer, P.C. has been appointed to represent the Joint Equity Committee.
Investors who have incurred losses may be entitled to claim a theft loss for federal and state income tax purposes. The Internal Revenue Service has provided guidance in Revenue Ruling 2009-9 and Revenue Procedure 2009-20. Each investor should consult his or her own tax consultant with respect to the appropriate income tax treatment of any such loss.
As outlined in the document posted here, the Creditors’ Committee filed a lawsuit on behalf of the investors of REP on December 24, 2008 in the Central District of California. Further, the Committee filed a lawsuit on March 2, 2009 as an adversary proceeding to the bankruptcy filed by REP. General Information:

On October 8, 2007, each of the Debtors filed voluntary petitions for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code (the "Bankruptcy Code"). The Eight Debtors (collectively, the "Bankruptcy Cases") are Jointly Administered under Case No. 8:07-13239. The Bankruptcy Cases are currently pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California before the honorable Theodor Albert.

Rule 9001(5) of the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure requires that a representative of the Debtors appear at the Meeting of Creditors for the purpose of being examined under oath by a representative of the Office of the United States Trustee and by any interested parties that attend the meeting. Creditors are welcome, but not required, to attend the meeting. The Meeting of Creditors may be continued or adjourned by notice at the meeting, without further written notice to creditors.
